Conclusions Penbritin is an effective non-toxic oral penicillin possessing a wide spectrum of activity. Animal studies indicate that it is better absorbed and gives more pro-longed blood levelsthan penicillin V and phenethicillin. Its effectiveness against infections due to staphylococci and streptococci is equal to that of the existing oral peni-penicillins. In this respect there is agreement with the in vitro activities (Rolinson and Stevens, 1961).
