During the 2019 Therapeutic Hypothermia and Temperature Management Symposium in Miami, state-of-the-art lectures on the advances and use of temperature management were conducted. In this expert panel discussion moderated by Dr. Michael Kurz, participants investigated approaches to using temperature management strategies in various clinical conditions. Dr. Kees Polderman lectured on therapeutic hypothermia for targeting the acute respiratory disease syndrome population. Dr. Gretchen Brophy provided important data on the effects of hypothermia on drug metabolism and importance in critical care. Finally, Dr. Byron Drumheller provided insight into terms of critically ill trauma patients and the use of therapeutic hypothermia with clinical management. All of these lectures provided important information regarding these topics and stimulated risk discussion among the conference attendees.Question: When I look at the strategy that you put up in the end about evidence-based form for strategies in trauma, I am wondering why we do not have continuous renal replacement therapy using venovenous (VV) cannulation with an in-line warmer because that is something that most hospital staff are very familiar with that would make it a bit easier and I am wondering why that is not on there.
