Diverse methods of approaching a broad spectrum of ethnic families of addicts are discussed. Included among representative minorities are native Americans, inner city Blacks, Chicanos, Asian Americans, Mormons, gays and a women’s group. Styles of ecological family therapy and emergent modes of treatment provide insight into racial-ethnic family systems. Associated patterns suggest that commonalities among families with drug abusing members are greater than their sociocultural differences.
