With a view to shape separation of dry coarse solids, the gravitational motion of ellipsoids is analyzed in the uni-direction on inclined stationary plates. The particle's path traces are computed on the basis of the combined motion of rotation, jump and slide. As a result, smaller, circular or more frictional particles are found to fall farther down the plate of smaller inclination in a certain time-period, effectively by particle rotation. Thus, it is possible that the multi-component particles of differing shape within the narrow range become separated continuously in the lateral flight distance after free falling from the bottom edge of the inclined plate.
