Methylmercury and its short-chain homolog elicit characteristic toxic ef-fects in man that differ from the toxic effects of other mercury compounds (la, 2). The primary signs and symptoms of methylmercury poisoning result from damage to the nervous system and are characterized by loss of sensa-tion at the extremities of the handsThe first eight authors are members of the University of Baghdad, Baghdad, Iraq.
