Magnetic properties of molecular magnets, Na3y-2Cr2+[Cr3+(CN)6]yzH2O, were systematically investigated as a function of the coordination number (n≡6y) around Cr2+. Consistently with a mean-field picture, the ferrimagnetic transition temperature (Tc) increases withnfromTc= 240 K atn= 4.0 toTc= 263 K at 4.7. The coercivity (Hc) at 5 K increases withnfromHc= 66 G atn= 4.0 toHc= 228 G at 4.7 due to the enhanced magnetic anisotropy. For all the compounds, the saturation magnetization (Ms∼0.3 µBat 1 T and at 5 K) was much smaller than the expected value (∼2.0 µB). We interpreted the suppressedMsin terms of the phase inversion defects of the Cr valence alternation.
