Using the observations made in the second half of the 20th centuary, the variation of runoff and sand transport of the Yellow River is studied, and it is found that both have progressively decreased during the period between the 1950's and 1990's. The hydrographic characteristics of the Yellow River Estuary are discussed qualitatively and quantitavely, including water and sand regimens, flow stoppage,ion flow, tide, tidal currents, residual currents, temperature distribution, salinity distribution, storm surges, estuarine sand and salt water wedge.
