Electromagnetically induced nanoparticle rotation controlled by hydrodynamics and by the frequency of the applied field is observed for the presented system of monodomain magnetic core-shell hybrids. The system is composed of nanoscopic cobalt cores decorated with a poly (epsilon-caprolactone) brush shell with adjustable thickness, immersed in toluene. By using, alternating current (AC) susceptometry and magnetic heating calorimetry, a clear dependence of the dynamic magnetic behavior on the shell thickness is observed at constant core properties, that may be of use for microfluidic transport applications.
