MATERIALS AND METHODSThe inoculum used was the Walker strain of herpes simplex virus from the sixth passage in tissue culture (Maben cell, lung carcinoma) stored as a cell suspension at-70 C. The LD5 0 in mice was 1.0 X IO" 516. A 100 μΐ virus suspension was dropped on each of the corneas of 36 albino rabbits weighing between 2.0 and 3.5 kg.
