Errors in prosodic features are particularly severe in the speech of deaf children. However, significant information on prosodic features is contained in the lower frequencies which may be within the deaf child's range of residual hearing. This study examined the interrelationship between the reception and production of stress, intonation for yes‐no questions, and location of pausal juncture. Performance was poor both in reception and production, the highest error rates occurring with intonation. There was some evidence of a systematic relationship between prosodic errors in reception and production.
