Abstract Clause 5.3 of ANSI/NCSL Z540.3, "Requirements for the Calibration of Measuring and Test Equipment," contains a risk management requirement for cases where the results of calibration are employed to verify that quantities are within specified tolerances. This requirement limits the probability of incorrect acceptance decisions (false accept risk) to a maximum of 2%. Where the estimation of this probability is not feasible, the test uncertainty ratio (TUR) is required to be 4:1 or greater.
