It has been brought to our attention that the paper • Application to Global Bertini Theorems, by Dr. Laila E.M. Rashid published in the Pacific Journal of Mathematics, Volume 195, No. 2, 477-485, is an almost verbatim copy of the paper • Local Bertini Theorems for Geometric Properties Over a non Perfect Field, by M. L. Spreafico published in Rendiconti di Matematica, Serie VII, Volume 13, Roma (1993), 561-572. Furthermore, Dr. Rashid had already published the same paper under the title • Application of Global Bertini Theorems in Bull. Math. Soc. Sc. Math. Roumaine Tome 42 (90) No. 3, 1999. We are sorry and apologize to M. L. Spreafico that this has happened. Unfortunately it is very difficult if not impossible to exclude such errors, and so the proper functioning of the system ultimately depends on the integrity of the authors. The Journal reserves the right to take such further action as is appropriate in this matter.
