The out-the-window view provides the main information pilots need to control the aircraft during the nal phases of landing. Pilots learn how to use this information through extensive practicing, and little is known about the mostly subconscious perception and decision making processes playing a role. In my research I try to reveal which visual cues (i.e., characteristics of the visual scene) pilots use for their navigation and control decisions, and how they use them.
