Of all peripheral nerve ganglia, perhaps the most important to life are the minute collections and individual cells in the myenteric and submucous plexuses of the digestive tract. Up to the present time nothing is known of the aggregate size of these, in either plexus or combined, for any division of the alimentary canal. The present paper supplies this information in one laboratory animal for the most essential region of the gut, namely, the small intestine.
