RESULTSFree-flap reconstruction on four patients (Table [1]) and local flap reconstruction on two patients (Table [2]) is described. The free-flap transfers comprised one latissimus dorsi musculocutaneous flap transfer to the foot, one jejunum transfer to a pharyngeal defect after hypopharyngeal cancer resection, one forearm-flap transfer to a defect after lingual cancer resection, and one fibula-bone transfer to the region of a compound tibial-bone fracture. The two local flaps were both for nasolabial flap reconstruction. All cases of free-flap transfer with venous thrombosis showed low blood glucose values (Table [1]). The local flap reconstruction on three patients demonstrated congestion that necessitated phlebotomy, and their value of blood glucose was lower than that of the control and, interestingly, showed a gradual decrease with distance from the pivotal point.
