This article presents an overview of the research and theory on the psychosocial impact of armed conflict on children. Particular attention is paid to methodologic issues in the investigation of the psychosocial impact of war on children and the applicability of research to field-based intervention in developing countries. The article concludes with a discussion of how research can contribute to improvements in assessment and intervention for children affected by wars in developing countries.
