This article provides an account of the group 10 transition-metal complexes with metal–silicon bonds formed by the reaction of hydrosilanes with group 10 transition-metal complexes, with particular emphasis on the unique chemistry of 1,2-disilylbenzene, 1-dimethylsilyl-2-silylbenzene and bis(2-silylphenyl)silane. These hydrosilanes provide sterically less congested bidentate and tridentate silyl ligands and make it possible to stabilize a number of unusual mono-, di- and trinuclear poly(silyl) group 10 metal complexes including those of high formal valence state.
