2. Materials and methodsRNA for the Philippine tarsier (Tarsius syrichta) was extracted using a phenol/chloroform method (Chomczynski and Sacchi, 1987) from liver tissue obtained from the Duke University Primate Center. RNA for slow loris (Nycticebus coucang), Bolivian gray titi monkey (Callicebus donacophilus), squirrel monkey (Saimiri sciureus), lion-tailed macaque (Macaca silenus), silvered langur (Trachypithecus cristatus), and orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus) were obtained from the Center for Reproduction of Endangered Species, San Diego.
