A DNA probe, 28RN, derived from the mouse pink-eyed dilution locus,p,was used to detect restriction fragment length polymorphisms in recombinant inbred mice. A complete concordance of the strain distribution of alleles of 28RN andD7Nic1,the mouse homologue of a human gene within the Prader-Willi chromosome region, was found. TheD7Nic1locus and theplocus were estimated to be between 0 and 1.67 cM apart.
