The literature of the subject as a whole is reviewed to complement the last extensive survey of Sorsby, Avery, and Cockayne, which closed in 1937. In addition, all case reports published since 1864 in which deafness is recorded in connection with the syndrome are analysed to determine whether any relation exists between the two.
