A novel chemical method has been developed for the preparation of PbSe nanotubes. The method is based on the template-engaged synthesis in which the as-prepared Se nanotubes were used as template reagent. On the basis of a series of experiments and characterizations, the effect factors and the formation mechanism of the PbSe nanotubes were discussed. Furthermore, the electrochemical property of the PbSe nanotubes was studied.
