A number of F4 lines from the cross Caloro X Blue Rose (2914A) segregated for plants of normal and prostrate growth habit. The "lazy" growth habit appears to be due to a recessive factor mutation in an F2 plant (2914A2). Genetic studies of the progeny from this plant and F2 and F3 populations from the cross "Lazy" X Blue Rose indicate that the "lazy" growth habit is a simple recessive to normal. In geotropic response the "lazy" plants are largely ageotropic, normal plants negatively geotropic.
