Hybridoma cells which secrete colorectal carcinoma-specific antibodies were produced and used to study the antigenic structure of these [human] tumor cells. Nineteen antibodies were studied in detail; 15 of these were colorectal carcinoma specific. Only 2 antibodies reactive with carcinoembryogenic antigen (CEA) were discovered and 5 other antibodies that react with distinct epitopes on the cell surface were defined. Several antigens with distinct molecular characteristics were found with hybridoma antibodies. Six hybridoma antibodies mediated antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC).
