The Yoshida sarcoma and a line derived from it showing acquired resistance to alkylating agents have been compared from a number of aspects: chrbmosome number, growth rate, nucleic acid, protein and free thiol content. Although the degree of resistance to the alkylating agent Melphalan has been demonstrated to be at least 100 times greater than the sensitive strain, the 2 tumors have been very similar in all aspects so far studied. A small, and not highly significant, increase in glutathione content of the solid resistant tumor has been the only difference so far demonstrated.
