sometimes on paper and sometimes in lec~ ture halls. Archaeologists try to work strictly rationally and methodically, their real expertise often lying in the ability to use resOUrCeSmost efficiently. Those archaeologists who dominate most (academic and editorial) boards a great majority of them being male become the heroes of the discipline and, occasionally, Masters indeed, if only of English Colleges. Therefore, given these amazing correlations between the board game Stonehenge and the discipline of archaeology, thequestion arises what the difference would be if we all decided to play this game instead of writing and reading more papers and reviews. Perhaps that would be what the authors and readers of this Journal desire most of all anyway or deserve. Be that as it may, I hope to have stimulated some interest among archaeologists in a phenomenon of Geschichtskultur. I believe that as archaeologists we should pay attention to, and review from time to time, wherever archaeology, prehistory, and history occur in our society. Academic archaeology is another example for Geschichtskultur, but it occurs to me from time to time that in large part it is perhaps not the most exciting one.
