Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) refer to organic chemical compounds that have a sufficiently low boiling point to allow evaporation in air without decomposition (usually below 250◦ C) and that can affect the environment and human health. Depending on the definitions in different countries, only substances boiling above 50◦ C, or even methane, are included.
