The National Institution for Academic Degrees and University Evaluation (NIAD-UE) in Japan awards degrees based on the accumulation of credits. The credits must be classified according to the criteria by each applicant. Since the number of applicants has been increasing in recent years, there is a need for course classification supported by information technology. We have the Course Classification Support system (CCS) [1] that is a prototype system for supporting the classification of courses at the degree-awarding of NIAD-UE. CCS has the drawback of excluding the frequency of occurrence of technical terms, which plays a key role in the classification of courses. In this paper, we propose the Active Course Classification Support system (ACCS) that is an improvement system of CCS. We apply it to the classification of courses that were actually submitted in the fiscal year 2003 and 2004.
