Dengue fever is an acute infectious disease caused by dengue viruses and transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes. All four serotypes of DENV have caused outbreaks in China.Aedes albopictusis the major vector in China. Dengue fever is a severe, flu-like illness that affects infants, young children, and adults, but seldom causes death. Dengue can be diagnosed by isolation of the virus, by serological tests, or by molecular methods. There is no specific treatment and effective vaccines available for dengue fever. The only method to prevent dengue fever is to control vector mosquitoes.
