The crystal structure and magnetic properties of Sr{sub 2}(Fe{sub 1-x}Cr{sub x})MoO{sub 6} (0{<=}x{<=}0.4) have been investigated. In contrast to Sr{sub 2}(Fe{sub 1-x}Mn{sub x})MoO{sub 6} and Sr{sub 2}Fe(Mo{sub 1-x}W{sub x})O{sub 6}, the Cr doping results in a decrease of cationic ordering in Sr{sub 2}(Fe{sub 1-x}Cr{sub x})MoO{sub 6}. The saturation magnetization decreases with x and exhibits a linear dependence on the anti-site defect concentration. All the samples exhibit a semiconductor-metal transition. The low-field magnetoresistance increases with the saturation magnetization in a non-linear way. By assuming a preferential occupation of the Cr ions at the Mo sites, the dependence of magnetization on the Cr content can be well explained within a simple ferrimagnetic model.
