The quantum groupsGLq(n) andSLq(n) are defined as pairs of Hopf algebras, and it is shown they are absolutely connected. Whenqis a root of 1, some quantum analogue of the Frobenius map and some related finite quantum groups are introduced and their simplicity is studied.
