BackgroundG etting funding to conduct research, in general, is a major challenge that requires many skills and single-minded persistence. Getting funding to conduct research on games for health (G4H) may pose even more challenges. A number of scientists (the authors) who have applied for grant funding to support research on G4H (most of whom have been successful, several more than once, but most of whom have also received grant application rejections) have shared their insights in regard to the funding challenges specific to G4H research and suggestions for successfully obtaining funding. Comments that elucidate points made are quoted.
