The osseointegration technique of Branemark, using titanium implants as anchors for fixed dental bridgework has been in clinical use since 1965. Most of the patients treated so far have been totally edentulous but the technique has recently been used in the partially edentulous. The method seems to be very safe and reliable and can be used with a good prognosis. The osseointegration method can be a valuable complement in some orthodontic situations, such as aplasia, trauma and when there is a need for orthodontic anchorage. Osseointegrated titanium implants have been used in several orthodontic patients by the team in Goteborg. The aim of this report is to present some of the preliminary results obtained so far, illustrated by 6 cases.
