The intercalation/de-intercalation behavior of the bis(fluorosulfonyl) amide anion (FSA anion) at a highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) electrode in an carbonate-based electrolyte solution was investigated. Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction measurements were used to verify the formation of a stage-1 FSA-graphite intercalation compound, which had a gallery height of 0.78 nm. The HOPG showed approximately 60 mA h g(-1) of reversible capacity in a LiFSA carbonate-based electrolyte. The difference between the FSA anion and bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl) amide (TFSA) anion was also discussed. (C) 2015 The Electrochemical Society. All rights reserved.
