Discusses the phenomenology, aftereffects, psychophysiological correlates, individual differences, developmental variables, and medical and neurological variables of out-of-body experiences. The author also discusses the relationship between psychopathology and out-of-body experiences and examines parapsychological research in and theories of out-of-body experiences. In out-of-body experiences people feel that their" self" or center of awareness is located outside of the physical body. The experients' reported perceptions are organized in such a way as to be consistent with this perspective and include such features as sensations of floating, traveling to distant locations, and observing the physical body from a distance.
