Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of non-heme diiron(III) biomimetic complexes have been prepared on Au(111) electrode surfaces to explore redox properties of diiron centers in aqueous solution in a wide pH range. The diiron(III) SAMs exhibited the proton-coupled electron-transfer reaction (1H+/1e−) in water.
