Human papillomavirus (HPV) is recognized as a necessary, but insufficient cause of cervical cancer. Recentin vitroandin vivoevidence from our laboratory demonstrate that hyperactivation of yes-associated protein 1 (YAP1) is sufficient to induce cervical carcinogenesis. We found that synergism between hyperactivated YAP1 and high-risk HPV is a key driver of cervical cancer initiation and progression.
