Fly ash-based geopolymer is a new cementitious material with environmentally friendly characteristics. Generally, the mechanical properties of cementitious materials are influenced by their pore structure. The variation in the pore structural characteristics of the geopolymers with various influencing factors was investigated in this study. A smaller activator modulus and liquid-solid ratio lead to a finer pore structure, while higher activator concentrations also result in a finer pore structure. However, the densification of pore structure does not follow a monotonic relationship with the conserving temperature. Increasing the conserving temperature within a certain range decreases the most probable pore diameter and porosity. Nevertheless, excessive temperature increase has the opposite effect. Furthermore, the fractal dimension was introduced to characterize the pore structure comprehensively. The results show that a lower pore volume, a larger pore-specific surface area, and a smaller most probable pore diameter contribute to increasing pore surface fractal dimension. Further, compared to porosity, the microporous pore surface fractal dimension shows a better linear correlation with compressive strength.
