Conodont faunas from the Dingjiazhai and Woniusi Formations in the Baoshan area, including two new species: Rabeignathus ritterianus sp.nov. and Rabeignathus yunnanensis sp.nov., and other species, clearly indicate that the age of the upper part of the Dingjiazhai Formation is the latest Sakmarian to early Artinskian, and the age of the Woniusi Formation is late Artinskian , possibly, to early Kungurian, Early Permian. These conodont faunas should belong to warm water facies rather than cool water facies. The Dingjiazhai and Woniusi formations were deposited on the Peri-Gondwana. The displacement age of the Baoshan block from the Peri-Gondwana was in late Artinskian indicated by the eruptive basalts of the Woniusi Formation.
