EnglishThe private correspondence of ordinary people is particularly fruitful for an analysis of the influence of the medium on the strategies of writing. The writing of less experienced writers is often strongly influenced by an oral character that is reflected at the same time in the concrete graphic realization and in the spoken conception of the texts in the corpus. However, ordinary people’s texts meet the requirements imposed by the writing to varying degrees : beside the paper, which conditions the formatting of the text, the writers take into account the written medium by adapting their message to this mode and to the corresponding written conception as far as possible. Furthermore, the writers are aware of the characteristics of the written epistolary communication and of the requirements that it imposes. The qualitative analysis discusses the weight of the constraints imposed by the medium considering the discursive traditions specific to the epistolary communication by confronting it with graphic oral language (parle graphique) that results from conditions of communication which favor linguistic strategies getting closer to conceptual orality. francaisLa correspondance privee des gens ordinaires se montre particulierement fructueuse pour une analyse de l’influence du medium sur les strategies d’ecriture. L’ecriture des scripteurs moins experimentes est souvent fortement influencee par une oralite qui se reflete a la fois dans la realisation graphique concrete et dans la conception parlee des textes du corpus. Cependant, les ecrits des gens ordinaires repondent a des degres divers aux exigences imposees par l’ecriture : a cote du papier qui conditionne la mise en forme du texte, les scripteurs tiennent compte du medium de l’ecrit en adaptant leur message a ce mode et a la conception ecrite correspondante dans la mesure du possible. De plus, les scripteurs sont conscients des caracteristiques de la communication epistolaire ecrite et des exigences qu’elle impose. L’analyse qualitative discute le poids des contraintes imposees par le medium sous l’angle des traditions discursives propres a la communication epistolaire, en le confrontant avec le parle graphique resultant des conditions de communication qui favorisent des strategies linguistiques s’approchant de l’oralite conceptuelle.
