Conclusions The spectrum of CH and C= C overtones of 3, 3, 3-trifluoro-propyne has been investigated with intracavity photoacoustic spectroscopy and standard infrared techniques. Three types of vibrational transitions are identified for CH absorptions of this molecule:(a) the main overtone transition (0-* yy,),(b) the hot band (y7—*(y7+ yy,)), and (c) combination bands of the type (yy,±y, 0) and (yy,±y7).The hot-band absorptions y7—(y7+ yy,) observed for all the transitions from y= 1 to y= 6 show stronginteraction between the CH stretching mode (y,) and the CH bending mode (y7). The same interaction between vibrational motions is also identified for othermolecules with single acetylenic CH stretching vibrations such as N= CH and (CF3) 3CC= CH. Thisstrong coupling is nonresonant in nature. Combination bands such as u, y,±y10 or,,±y7 are close in
