Salivary from a person's mouth is turning out to be the recent most valuable sample for detection of diseases and the physiological state of the human body. The main advantages of using salivary sample is its easy availability, cost effectiveness and the fact that it doesn't expose health care workers to blood-borne diseases. A study of various proteins present in saliva can help detect simple to complex diseases like Sjogren's syndrome, pancreatic cancer, breast cancer and oral cancer. Identifications of glycoproteins in saliva, along with the different RNAs and mRNA, which are present in the cell-free portion of saliva, can help in detecting the diseased stage. Another advantage of using saliva for detection is that extracellular proteins are more abundant in the saliva than plasma.
