DOI: 10.1093/infdis/jiae046 2 published paper by LaCourse et al. in JID we found that maternal hybrid immunity to SARS-CoV-2 provided more durable antibody responses compared to maternal antibodies derived from infection alone in infants through 6 months of age [3]. In the interim we have additionally evaluated samples from participants who received SARS-CoV-2 vaccination but without prior SARS-CoV-2 infection (vaccine alone controls). We enrolled 107 participants with prior SARS-CoV-2 infection in pregnancy (anti-nucleocapsid [anti-N] IgG+ on enrollment or prior RT-PCR+ or antigen+) between January 2021-August 2022,(70 with hybrid immunity, 37 with infection alone) as previously reported [3]. We also enrolled 40 pregnant controls without prior SAR-CoV-2 (anti-N IgG-) but history of vaccination (vaccine alone controls) matched by gestational age and date of infection screen. Blood samples collected in delivery/birth, 0-< 3 and 3-6 months postpartum were tested for anti-spike (anti-S) IgG by Abbott Architect (positive:≥ 7.1 BAU/mL) and neutralizing antibodies (nAb, serum dilution inhibited infection by 50%[ND50]).
