The article aims to identify the risk of cyclosporine relative to that associated with psoriasis itself and with other treatments for the disease. Assessing the risk of cancer in patients receiving cyclosporine for psoriasis is a complex task that involves several parameters. Psoriasis increases the risk of skin cancer to a greater degree in patients with greater sun exposure, does not increase the risk of lymphoma, and increases the risk of cancers in general only slightly. Treatment with cyclosporine appears to increase the risk of cancer to approximately the same range as other immunosuppressants.
