In the presence of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) medium,potassium reacts with sodium tetraphenylboron to form a stable colloidal precipitation. Beer's law is obeyed in the range 0- 1.0mg/25mL. This method was applied to the determination of potassium in water with good results.
