In gravid women, 2 pregnancies were usually required before leukoagglutinins became demonstrable. Only 13 of 68 women possessed leukoagglutinins in their second pregnancy, and the proportion of women immunized did not significantly differ with increasing parity. Leukoagglutinins persisted in the sera of parous women for varying periods after parturition to 3 years, and in 2 women, for 8 years. Maternal serum may contain leukoagglutinins of more than 1 specificity.
