Mesangiocapillary (membranoproliferative) glomerulonephritis carries a poor prognosis when associated with impaired renal function, the nephrotic syndrome and hypertension. Treatment with combined cyclophosphamide, dipyridamole and anticoagulants in a group of 16 patients with impaired renal function, all of whom had the nephrotic syndrome and half of whom had malignant hypertension, produced a highly significant improvement in cumulative survival curves (at 30 months, P < 0.0001).
