In the examination of a long series of compounds it was found that 4,4[image]-dihydroxy-[alpha],[beta]-diethyl stilbene (diethylstilboestrol) and 4,4[image]-dihydroxy-[gamma],[delta]-diphenyl-[beta],[delta]-hexadiene were very powerful estrogenic substances.
