Changes in labor productivity are of interest to students of industrial organization because they may be partially determined by market structure and, directly or indirectly, they may be indicative of industrial performance. In particular, long-run productivity advance may have implications for cost-push inflation. For example, in defense of oligopolistic structures, Weston and Lustgarten concede that wages may rise faster in concentrated industries than unconcentrated
