今天，世界上一半以上的人口没有因为缺乏具有足够高生物价值的蛋白质而营养不良，或者因为缺乏任何形式的食物而彻头彻尾地饥饿。再加上人口的持续增长，以每年6500万人的速度增长，很明显，只有利用我们可以支配的最大生产力资源，才能使我们克服我们所面临的巨大的饮食问题。因此，每个能够以自己的方式在这场旷日持久的斗争中提供任何帮助的人，都负有尽其所能这样做的责任。
ODAY MORE than half the world population is t suffering from malnutrition due to shortage of proteins of sufficiently high biological value or downright starvation due to lack of food of any sort. Add to this the continuous growth of the human population, expanding at a rate of 65 millions a year and it becomes all too plain that only the application of the maximum productive resources at our disposal will enable us to overcome the mammoth catering problem which faces us. Each who can contribute in his individual way any help in this prolonged struggle carries, therefore, the responsibility of doing so to the maximum of his ability.
