I am very pleased to inform you all that submission to Perfusion is online. The site can be accessed at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/perfusion. After submission, the complete process from submission to acceptance for publication is electronic. This includes requests for reviews and reviewer responses. There has been a slight, but appreciable, increase in the number of submissions since going electronic and I would encourage you, your teams and colleagues to submit scientific articles to Perfusion as the turnaround time is even more reduced. I would like to thank SAGE, my team, Section Editors and the reviewers for their help in making this a success. In this issue, Sistino discusses the use of decision analysis and meta analysis to predict outcomes in coronary artery bypass grafting surgery, using the model of comparing off-pump and miniaturised CPB circuits. Continued efforts to improve the safety in cardiac surgery is evidenced by the development of a new method of perfusionist blood sampling to look at emboli which occur during coronary bypass surgery. The next step would be to combine miniaturised CPB with minimally invasive aortic and mitral valve surgery to get the best of two worlds. We then look at the Lifebridge B2T to transplant in an in vitro trial for Bridge to Life and discuss the barriers to acceptance and use of autologous platelet gel. Larson, et al. talk to us on ECHO parameters of diastolic dysfunction and the effect of clenbuterol administration on the healthy murine heart.
